Our
utility wagons, lawn and garden wagons, garden carts, and
trailers for lawn tractors, are hand crafted of sold wood. Built using
specially treated, environment friendly lumber, these sturdy wagons and
trailers will provide you years of reliable service.
Because all our vehicles are made of treated lumber they will not rust
or rot when stored outside or in damp places.
Sawyer Brothers
has specifically designed and built each vehicle for use with your lawn tractor, standard garden
tractor, or ATV. Using a standard draw pin supplied with each
wagon or trailer they attach to the hole in the flange or drawbar at the back of your
tractor. If you prefer we can supply your vehicle with a standard ball
hitch, but please note that these are low speed vehicles designed for
off road use.
We build our utility
wagons, garden carts,
and trailers in 4 styles and two different sizes:
Our
Signature
Wagon is
designed for use on rough ground. The sturdy 28 inch wheels, built
specifically for garden carts and wagons, make this wagon easy to pull
over difficult terrain. Most lawn tractors are equipped with
"turf tires" that protect your lawn, but do not provide good
traction for pulling; this wagon is ideal for hauling where traction
can be an issue. It rolls easily even on rough ground allowing
your tractor to pull loads up to 750 pounds over ruts and bumps.
The 4 wheel wagon design makes the wagon stand on its own even when it
is fully loaded and not attached to a tractor.
The signature
wagon is only available in the 4 ft by 8 ft size bed with 24 inch high
removable sides. It can be ordered in unpainted or painted, pressure
treated wood. Special orders requesting different woods and
finishes can be accommodated upon request, please contact us for
pricing and delivery times.
Our
Heavy Duty Wagon
is designed to haul loads up to one ton. It's running gear is built of
solid treated lumber using 4 X 4's for the undercarriage and axle
blocks. The flooring is 2 X 12's fixed to a 2 X 4 frame with cross
members set on 16" centers. The wheels are heavy duty wire wheels with
roller bearings set on 11/16"
steel axles and fitted
with standard Rib Implement tires. The large wheels make it well
suited for rough ground. The articulated automobile type steering
assures stability even in uneven and sloping locations.
The Heavy Duty Wagon's
4 X 8 ft bed makes it easy to maneuver in to tight locations where a
standard farm wagon wouldn't begin to fit but its weight carrying
capacity is almost the same as that of a standard farm wagon. This
makes the Heavy Duty Wagon ideal
for hauling things in and out of small horse barns and tight locations
in larger facilities.
As with all our vehicles, because
it is made of environment friendly treated lumber it will not rust or
rot when stored outside or in damp places.
While a fully loaded
Heavy Duty Wagon can be pulled by
a 15 horsepower lawn tractor on smooth hard surfaces with moderate
inclines, if you want to get full use of this vehicle we recommend you
couple it with a standard farm tractor.
You can order both
the
Signature Wagon
and the
Heavy Duty Wagon with traditional
wooden wheels with steel rims; if you want to go all the way we can
configure it to be pulled by 1 horse or a 2 horse team. (If you
want to get fancy and use a larger team you're on your own. The
wagon will work fine but you're a better teamster than any of us so we
won't even begin to offer any advice. We have some friends who
might be able to help though.)
The
2
Wheel trailer
has heavy duty wheels with balloon tires for hauling large loads of
brush, leaves, sticks, and wood. The bed is only 18 inches above the
ground for easy loading. This trailer is only available with a 3 feet by 6 ft
bed. The
trailer has removable sides for easy loading and unloading.
The two wheel single axle design makes this trailer particularly easy
to maneuver even when backing up.
The
4
Wheel Trailer
is very similar in design to the two wheel trailer except that it has
a 4 X 8 foot bed and 2 more wheels so that it can carry loads up to
1000 lbs. The 4 ft by 8 ft model can carry as much or more than
your pick-up truck with less damage to your lawn; yet it is as maneuverable
as as the 2 wheel trailer. As with all of our wagons and
trailers it is available unpainted or painted in pressure treated
wood.
The 4 Wheel
Trailer's wheels are specially mounted on trucks on either side of the
trailer so that they can move up and down independently. This allows
the trailer's weight to be spread evenly over all four wheels at all
times.
The
Utility
Wagon combines the
hauling capacity, and "close to the ground" convenience of the 4 Wheel
Trailer with the stability of a wagon so that it still stands upright
even when it is not attached to a tractor. It is available in
the same 3 X 6 ft and 4 X 8 ft sizes and finish options available with
the 2 wheel and 4 wheel trailers. It is ideal for hauling
topsoil, sand, and gravel as well as the kids.
The
Signature
Wagon, Heavy Duty Wagon and the
Utility Wagon make
use of automobile type steering; just the wheels turn, the entire
front axle does not need to swivel the way the axles on old fashioned
wagons or your little red wagon did. This means the wagon has
the same stability when it is turning that it has when it is standing
still or going in a straight line. This is a significant safety
advantage.
The carrying capacity
for these garden carts, wagons and trailers is
either 6' x 3' x 2' (36 cu. ft.) or 8' x 4' x 2.5' (80 cu. ft.)
Maximum load
carrying ability ranges from 750 lbs. to 2000 lbs. depending upon the style and size of the
cart, wagon, or trailer.
